Dr. James Hu grew up in the Northern Suburbs of Chicago, and received his dental degree from Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine in Downers Grove During dental school, he was accepted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, national dental honor society, an award given to the top 10% of his class. He was also awarded the Senior Dental Student Certificate of Merit – for outstanding service to the field of dentistry – by the Pierre Fauchard Academy, an international honor dental organization
He then completed general practice residency in Evanston Hospital where he received advanced training in all aspects of dentistry. During his time there, he was the recipient of multiple service value awards for exceptional service and professional work ethic, nominated by his peers and patients.
During his early days, Dr. Hu learned the importance of the golden rule – do on to others as you want done to you and that is a mantra he lives by to this day. He treats all of his patients as family and ensures the patient’s comfort and ease throughout any procedure. During his free time, he loves spending time with his wife and son traveling, and eating his way around the world.
Dr. Nouneh obtained his dental degree from Boston University in 1997. He then continued to receive his specialty training in Periodontics at Georgia Health Science University, College of Dentistry in Augusta, Georgia. During his three years at MCG, Dr. Nouneh studied the attachment of bone cells to dental implant surfaces and obtained his Master’s Degree in Oral Biology. Dr. Nouneh enjoys contributing part of his time to teaching and is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Dentistry. He also serves on staff at Evanston Hospital, Northshore University Healthsystem, working with the dental residents at the General Dental Residency program.

Dr. Amanda Henry received her dental degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2012. She was the recipient of the Golden Scaler Award and enhanced her education through a month long study at the Sun Yat Sen University in Guangzhou, China. Dr. Henry is an honors graduate with a degree in biology from Indiana University, where she was also elected to Phi Beta Kappa honor society.
Furthering her commitment to providing excellent dental care, Dr. Henry is continuing her education as a faculty club member at the Spear Dental Education Center. She is also affiliated with the Illinois State Dental Society and Chicago Dental Society.
Dr. Henry is a third generation dentist in her family. Her love of dentistry allows her to connect with patients and help them achieve their healthiest, most beautiful smiles! She is a Chicago native and enjoys traveling, taking Spanish classes, and teaching yoga in her free time.
Dr. Kupershmidt was raised in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. She received both her Bachelor of Science degree graduating with high honors and Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Upon graduation, she was the recipient of the Bisco Award for excellence in preventative and restorative care with an emphasis on esthetic dentistry.
Dr. Kupershmidt furthered her training in dental school through honors coursework in special needs and pediatric dentistry. She believes in listening to her patients’ needs and providing the highest quality of dental care in a comfortable environment. Her focus lies in education and prevention and is committed to individualized solutions for the needs of each of her patients.
Dr. Kupershmidt is an active member of the American Dental Association, Chicago Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry and Illinois State Dental Society. Dr. Kupershmidt speaks Russian and French fluently and lives in the Chicagoland suburbs with her fiancé. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, yoga, travelling and spending time with her family.
Dr. Marina Karnaukh (pronounced Kar-Now) received her dental degree from Nova Southeastern University at Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Karnaukh then pursued post-graduate education and completed a program in Advanced Education of General Dentistry (AEGD) at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. She is an honors graduate with a BS in biology from the Ohio State University.
Dr. Karnaukh enjoys all facets of dentistry and is comfortable providing care to patients of all ages. Preventative care and continuing education is of utmost importance to Dr. Karnaukh. She enjoys connecting with patients and is committed to creating custom treatment plans to fit each patient’s unique needs and goals. Dr. Karnaukh is an active member of the American Dental Association and Chicago Dental Society.
When she isn’t restoring Chicago’s smiles, Dr. Karnaukh is enjoying traveling, yoga, concerts and spending time with her friends and family.
